{gr}ATTITUDE ~ Day 2

Despite the fact that I was roaming the halls between 5-6am dropping of copies of the day’s assignments for my students, I was encouraged by the simple knowledge that my day off allowed my husband to enjoy a beautiful (and bright – thank you daylight savings time!) walk to school, and gave my kids an extra hour of sleep this morning.

I was able to drop my daughter off at school and watch her walk in the doors, already in her final year at this elementary school.  Wasn’t it just yesterday I was dropping her off for kindergarten?  The sun was shining and the promise of everything I love about autumn hung in perfect possibility.

My son and I spent a couple hours at the orthodontist, where, after 18 months, my tin grin fell away revealing my straight, pearly whites!

It’s still strange to look in the mirror and see only teeth.  White teeth.  Big white teeth.  Big teeth.  Don’t get me wrong, I’m thrilled, it’s just gonna take a while to get used to!

And the best part is that I’ll still be a regular at the orthodontist seeing as how my son will be getting his brackets on by the month’s end…photos forthcoming for sure!

Having wrapped up our appointment early, we were able to surprise Sis with lunch (McDonald’s of course) and then we ran around playing tag on the playground.  We headed to the middle school to say hello to Daddy and were greeted with cheers and celebration by the lunching seventh graders.

A mid-afternoon at home allowed us to catch up on a few things and gave Calder an opportunity to relax a little bit before we headed out to the next appointment in Lansing.

To top off the evening, we walked downtown for the kids to get a haircut and enjoyed the warmth of this fabulous November night.
